Roadmap for applying

The first steps along the path to your masters degree...

This site provides an overview of important information relating to the application process.

If you still have questions feel free to contact us.

The admission guidelines (in german and english) for the INFOTECH program can be found here.

Read this information (and the requirements page) carefully.  Failure to submit all required documents at the time of application will result in your application being rejected.
Exceptions, unless otherwise noted, can not be made.

INFOTECH offers two admission periods per year: Summer and Winter

The application period for each is ca. 9 months before the first semester starts:

Summer Semester:
Application  - May 15  - July 15
Semester begin  - April 1st

Winter Semester:
Application  - November 15  - January 15
Semester begin  - October 1

Application is only possible over the C@mpus website during the application periods.
Applications submitted after the application deadlines and/or via email can not be considered.  You will have to reapply during the next application period.

On our Requirements page you will find a detailed list of the admission requirements.

Summarized, the main requirements are:
- Bachelor degree in a related field (electrical engineering, computer science, etc.)
- Qualifying CGPA average
- University that issued the bachelor degree is listed with H+ in Anabin (recognition that degrees issued by the awarding institution are recognized as being equivalent to a german degree)
- Proof of min. C1 english language proficiency.  See requirements page for which types of proof (IELTS/TOEFL etc.) we accept.  MOI (Method of instruction) is not accepted!

Note, the minimum requirements listed are the miminum levels required to be considered for admission. Failure to meet the minimum requirements listed will result in an application being excluded from consideration.
Qualifying for admission does not guarantee admission.

Admission to the program is highly competitive as we receive more applications than we can admit.  Therefore, those whose qualifications surpass our minimum requirements have the competetive advantage.

Which documents are required can be found on our Requirements page and in C@mpus.

All of these documents - with the exception of the bachelor degree certificate - are required at the time of application.

Exceptions can not be made, and applications submitted without these documents are incomplete.

These are:
1) Proof of a completed bachelor degree in a related field (Bachelor Degree certificate).
Note:  Applicants can apply and be admitted without their final degree certificate.  However, enrollment is only possible once the final certificate has been submitted. Applicants have up to the third semester after application to submit the final certificate.
2) Official bachelor degree transcripts and proof of CGPA
3) University's grading scale, often included in the official transcripts.
The grading scale should show us the highest attainable grade and the minimum grde needed to be awarded the degree.
4) Proof of sufficient english proficiency (Please see list of accepted proofs under 'Requirements'. Medium of instruction (MOI) is not accepted, exceptions cannot be made)
5) Completed adjunct form (Only this form! Applications missing the adjunct/submitting forms from other programs/Unis may be deemed incomplete)
When provding your grade on the form, only use the final grade granted by your university  - NOT a conversion to the German system.
6) APS Certificate: For applicants with a degree from a university in China, India or Vietnam

If you already have a masters degree:  We require you to apply with your bachelor degree and transcripts. You may attach your master degree documents as additional documents but they generally have no bearing on your application.

We DO NOT require letters of recommendation or CVs. You may submit them if you wish, but they have no bearing on your application.

Please upload all required documents to your application in C@mpus.

During the application period changes can be made to the application at any time.  After the application deadline has passed no more changes can be made and no further documents can be accepted.
Please contact C@mpus support if you need to correct something in your application.

The entire application (and later enrollment) process is completed in C@mpus.  More information about applying can be found here.
We can not accept any documents/applications that are submitted by email.

The application process is straightforward and easy.  The aid of external agencies or consultancies is not required.

Can't find INFOTECH in the list of programs to apply to?  Ensure you have selected the correct start semester at the beginning of the application.

Application manual for your reference

Approximately 1-2 months after the application deadline applicants will be informed of the admission decisions.

As mentioned, just meeting the application requirements does not ensure admission.  Since admission to the program is highly competitive, only meeting the requirements (and not exceeding them) does not give an applicant a competitve advantage.

Admission decisions are final.  Requests for reconsideration can not be accepted.

Congratulations to those who are admitted.  You can find information about the next steps in the post-admission information section.

For those we were unable to offer admission to:  We appreciate your interest in our program and welcome you to reapply for the next semester.  Due to the changing competitive landscape each application period, your application might have success another semester.

Although it may appear in C@mpus that not all documents have been checked, rest assure that we have.

If you have been admitted with conditional acceptance and wish to enroll after the semester in which you were admitted, the process is different than that of a new applicant.

You will need to submit a 'new' application for the semester in which you wish to enroll.  Depending on the date of your 'new' application (before/after January 15 / July 15th), the steps you take in C@MPUS are different.

This site will guide you through it:  Application with conditional admission

Questions regarding the process should be directed at the contacts listed in the site linked above.

A few tips:
  • In Germany, and especially at the master level, students are expected to take responsibiltiy for their studies. They are expected to make an attempt to inform themselves about what is required of them and then seek help to fill in any missing information.  (ie. Familiarize yourself with the Study Regulations!)
  • Deadlines are deadlines. There are no acceptable reasons for not keeping deadlines during the application process.
  • Admission to a German university only provides the right to take up studies and  - after fulfillment of all obligations of the study and examination regulations - receive the intended academic degree. It does not include anything further. Dormitories, scholarships etc. have to be requested separately, using defined procedures.
  • For this program, you are expected to have knowledge of the basics in computer science AND electrical engineering. It may be beneficial to use the time between admission and the beginning of the semester refreshing/improving your knowledge in these areas (especially if there is a gap between when you completed your bachelor and when you are beginning the master).
