Requirements

Prerequisites might be vary, based on the type and place of the first level (undergraduate) degree.

Please note: Starting with admission to WS 25/26 there will be a change in the language requirements for applicants.
Applicants from India: The APS certificate is now required with your application.
 
Applicants need a qualifying Bachelor degree in a qualifying field with a regular study time of 3 to 4-years (some exceptions apply) and have to fulfill a number of other basic requirements in order to be eligible for admission. Based on the type and place of the first level (undergraduate) degree, different requirements might be in place.

Requirements are:
 
1) Bachelor Degree and Study Duration
For applicants with non-European first level degree (UC=NE)
  • (1) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree or similar, e.g. BTech, BE, BCS, BCA but not B.A. Master degrees do not qualify and are not considered.
  • (2) 3 to 4 years regular study time
For applicants with a European (including German) first level degree (UC=E)
  • (1a) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree or similar, e.g. BTech, BE, BCS, BCA but not B.A. or
  • (1b) Diploma Degree from an university of one of the European Union member states. Master degrees do not qualify and are not considered.
  • (2) 3 to 4 years regular study time
For applicants with German (Fach)-Hochschule/Berufsakademie (Duale Hochschule) Degrees (UC=E)
  • (1) Bachelor/Diplom Abschluss einer deutschen (Fach)hochschule oder Berufsakademie (Duale Hochschule), deren Abschlüsse denen einer Staatlichen Hochschule gleichgestellt sind
  • (2) entfällt

2) Awarding University/Higher Educational Institution

The degrees of the awarding institutions have to be recognized as equivalents to those awarded by a german institution without restrictions.  The institution should have a 'Status' of 'H+' in the anabin database of The Standing Conference of the German Ministers of Education (KMK). 

3) Study Field
An applicants bachelor degree should be in a similar field to ensure they have the foundation needed to suceed in the INFOTECH program. Eg. computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering (communications), electronics engineering or automation.  
4) GPA Requirements
The Cumulative Grade Point Average/Overall Average (CGPA) should be better than (value/best on scale)
  • 70% of best-on-scale, e.g.
  • 70%/100%
  • 2.8/4
  • 3.5/5
  • 14/20
  • 7/10
  • 2.5/1.0 (for German Marks)
Original marks/grades are required, not a conversion to German grades.  
It should be noted that values close to these minimum values have a difficult position in the international competition for seats. In all cases the academic admission commission INFOTECH evaluates the finishing (overall) grades/marks of the degree examination and decides.
5) English Proficiency
All students will be required to show proof of a working knowledge of the English language. Accepted proofs are:
  • TOEFL IBT 95 points TOEFL
  • IELTS band 7,0 or better (academic)
  • Cambridge C1/C2
  • Oxford Test of English Advanced (C1)

- If you are a national from a country where english is an official language - please contact us directly. 
- Medium of Instruction (MoI) is no longer an accepted proof of english proficiency.

6) Special, Country-Dependent Requirements
  • China, Mongolia and Vietnam
    Certificate from the APS ("Akademische Prüfstelle"). Further information in APS.
  • India
    Certificate from the APS ("Akademische Prüfstelle"). Further information : APS India.
