Information on Seminar Registration - Computer Science

Dear students of the Master programs INFOTECH and Computer Science

the registration for advanced seminars and lab courses that will be offered in the winter term 2018/19  is going to start soon. It will be carried out in in ILIAS (as last time). The registration for all these courses takes place in the ILIAS repository under "Ingenieurwissenschaften" → "Informatik". There you will find the course "Informatik-Marktplatz" at the bottom of the page, which is already available so that you can register already (if you are not a member of this folder yet). Please do the registration in this course already before the real start of the registration.

In this course, you will find the following subfolders and you are allowed to enter the ones written in bold face only as students of an English program:

• 2 - Registration for Advanced Seminars (English Master) Summer Term 2019

• 3 - Registration Lab Courses (English Master) Summer Term 2019In these subfolders, there are different groups that include the offerings for seminars, advanced seminars and laboratory/practical courses.

• The registration for these courses starts on Tuesday, 29.01.2019 , in the following order:
•  

1. for seminars (Bachelor) at 13:20 o'clock
2. for advanced seminars (Master) at 13:30 o'clock
3. for lab courses (Master) at 13:40 o'clock

If you study an English program, you can register only in the folders that contain the offerings for these programs. It works comparably for the German programs.

Registration will be closed on Thursday, 31.01.2016 at 16:00 o'clock. Please note that a seat on a waiting list is no guarantee for a place in one of the courses. However, until the start of the semester it is possible that a student from the waiting list will get a seat in the course because of the de-registration of another student.

After the registration is closed, the lecturers will get in contact with the participants via email to talk about meetings and the offered topics. Please additionally check the web pages or the pdfs of the call of each course (if available) for further information.

Important information

• It is not allowed to get a place in more than one advanced seminar or in more than one lab course. If this happens during the registration phase, please delete one of these redundant places. Otherwise all but one will be deleted after the end of the registration.
• It is allowed to be on more than one waiting list only. However, as soon as you get a place in a course, your remaining places on the other waiting lists will be offered to other students.
• As in the last semester, the lecturers are allowed to distribute up to 6 places in the advanced seminars to particularly interested students. Thus, in almost all cases only 8 places can be directly registered for. If the lecturer nominates less than 6 people for the respective course, the remaining places will be assigned to the students on the waiting list accordingly. Please register for a course even when the lecturer has promised you one of these 6 places.
• The exam registration has to be done by the students during the general exam registration period of the University of Stuttgart in the C@mpus system. You have to register for the advanced seminar or Lab course in your program and select the correct examiner. He / she is mentioned on the call of the course. De-registration:

1. A de-registration from any of the courses without consequences is only possible until 14 days after the internal distribution of the topics of the respective course. The lecturer / examiner has to be informed about this de-registration.
2. Any de-registration after the end of the exam registration period leads to a "fail" in the course.
3. Any de-registration (or disappearing) later than 14 days after the distribution of the course topics and previous to the start of the exam registration period causes that the student will only get a place on a waiting list on any further registration to this course type for the next 2 semesters.
4. A de-registration due to illness has to be approved by the examinations board. If the examinations board gives the permission to de-register, this will not lead to the consequences mentioned in the section above.
